How to launch an Emerging Leader Lab - Guide for ELL Session Coherene Holders on how to launch an 8 week session.
A Source Team is a social body who provides the social and financial resources in order to launch and operate a session of Emerging Leader Labs. Source team
A Support Team creates coherence for a comfortable, safe, and loving container for a session of ELL. The Support Team members provide coherence for the infrastructure, health, flow, space, environment, beauty, logistics of the program. i.e. food, housing, transport, play, etc. It also provides a place where people attracted to ELL without projects can still contribute.
A Coach Team provides personal support to participants (and support team?) in achieving their personal growth and project goals. Coach Team members typically have experience coaching prior to serving as an ELL coach, perhaps as professional life coaches, counselors (?) or other relevant ....
Coach Team Facilitator holds coherence for the coaching team, builds the coaching team into a magic group, pays attention to what's needed in that space. The coach team facilitator does not necessarily need to have coaching experience themselves. Their job is not to tell the coaches how to coach but rather to serve as a bridge between the coaches and the program. As such it is best (perhaps required?) that the coach team facilitator be on site at the lab (at least one day per week?) The coach team facilitator serves as a source of ongoing information for the coaches in order to provide additional context so that the coaches can succeed in supporting participants.
Facilitation Team - The Facilitators make sure the basic promises of an ELL session are delivered for participants. They utilize facilitation tools from the "bag of tricks" in order to support individual and group growth into a "magic group." Every Lab session must have an ELL certified facilitator as part of the facilitation team, though they do not necessarily have to serve as a primary facilitator....
An ELL Session Coherence Holder (better name?) is something like a project manager, they agree to ensure that all of the necessary social infrastructure of the session is in place. A coherence holder recruits others and forms the Source Team in order to activate the social capital needed for the lab to operate. A coherence holder ensures that the support team and facilitators are able to host the session. They set the focus and intention, and select the time and place for the session to operate.
Participants (better name?) - These are the people with projects at ELL. Being a participant at ELL starts with attending an 8 week Lab session
Agreements Grid - grid of agreements of each role to others
Honor the Sacredness of Group Time
Emerging Leader Self Declaration - I declare that I am here to do things better
Gameshifting - An immmersive game where the processes and patterns of our social interactions are made visible and translated into game boards and game pieces. This lets us more easily adapt group processes and modes toward ones that fit the needs of the moment to do whatever a group needs to do together.
An ELL Session Plan - A session plan is created and utilized by the Session Coherence Holder as an operating plan which sets the focus, intention, time, and place for the session to operate.
Three promises of 8 week Emerging Leader Labs session. You will learn how to:
-Share vision more effectively
-Engage people with your project, ideally recruit people to contribute or participate on or with it
-Create container for effective group collaboration and organization

Emerging Leader Club - Any three or more people can declare themselves a club. Will be provided with gameshifting board, topics, materials that they can use but do not have to. cAn be listed if there are at least three conveners, say where you are meeting so others can join. Designed so that new organisms in the ELL ecosystem are generated from bottom up. A club is basically a place for people to come together to talk about how we can do things better in the world.
Emerging Leader Lab if your club wants to take an idea into the action phase and start working on it you can graduate into forming a lab. To open a lab you need a source team member who has been on another source team, an ELL certified facilitator. Every new lab starts with an 8 week intro session. Anytime new participants enter a Lab they must start with a intro session. After the intro session you may stay on to work in a lab as long as you agree to measure the impact of what you are doing. Must create metrics so that the lab can share the impact of the work with the community that is supporting the lab. LAbs operate as much as possible in a gift economy - low cash to no cash. Social capitol of source team takes the place of money to provide work space, housing, food, etc.
An ELL Lab (redundant?) Is a year round space for project development. Participants who have been through an 8 week session may be invited to stay on as participants in a Lab.
Emerging Leader Incubator Business Camp - If a project from a lab is entering the space where it can begin to interface with the cash economy they can move into a 4 week Business Camp. Business Camp prepares them to enter an incubator. Must have trained business camp facilitators.
Emerging Leader Incubator - For projects who are ready for business and have been through business camp. Incubators are legal entities with bank accounts, employer id #, etc. Could have many different legal structures
Emerging Leader Agency - fiscal sponsor/agent for other organisms in the ELL ecosystem.
**Incubators and Agencies are sites that show up in the commercial economy and allow us to pull out resources into the commons by supporting ELL ecosystems.
Emerging Leader Labs Project Intensive - An ELL project intensive is a special session of ELL devoted entirely to one project. Project Intensives represent a paired down and streamlined version of the labs designed to maximize productivity. Project Intensives have a facilitator or facilitation team but may or may not have a support team, source team,or coaches.
Department of Names Department - A bit of self satire here. At ELL we are fond of using old words in new ways. We often stretch and bend definitions in order to articulate key perspectives for our creative process.
>>Coherence Holding - At Emerging Leader Labs we rely upon a model of leadership that we call coherence holding. A coherence holder is someone who actively works to build participation in a creative project. A coherence holder shares a vision and invites others into it. They recruit collaborators and build a group dynamic where effective group creativity is possible.
>amplifiers, resonators, dampeners, dancers
>>Currency/current-see - A shared symbol system used to shape, enable, and measure flows or currents in a social context. = This is how we measure impacts and manage for outcomes.
>>Distinction/Distinguish to create a new understanding, a new way of distinguishing something from the old, a new mental space for something you can hold in a new way. Identifies the possibility of a new type of relationship. Opens up a new section of a map.
>>Polymorphism - We use the term polymorphism to describe the ability of groups to intentionally shift modes of communication and organization. The key here is selecting an organizational framework to best suit the desired outcome in a specific moment.
Jens: "I am here to destroy the existing economic system, isn't this just latching on? I dont think this goes far enough."
Art: "The current system is a closed loop of ownership. ELL Ecosystem is designed to create ways to pull assets into the commons. The current economy is a cancer within a social economy, within a natural economy, both gift economies. Who potty trained executives? not businesses."
